In September 2016 Altina Wildlife Park (AU) welcomed three white rhinos: one male and two females (and one of them is from Europe!). It is hoped that the animals will soon become a breeding trio.
The male is called Mtoto and he was born in 2004 in Hamilton Zoo (NZ) to mom Caballe and dad Zambezi. He lived during the past 9 years in Auckland Zoo (AU) with his dad Zambezi and his younger brother Inkosi. Now at the age of 12 years he’s mature enough to start a family on his own.
The first female is called Mango and was born in 2013 in Australia Zoo (AU) as first child for mom Inyeti and dad Dj/Ganini.
The second female was born in Hodenhagen (DE) to mom Kianga and dad Martin in 2013. She traveled for very long to bring some new blood in Australia’s white rhinos! Her name is Tatu.
For now the three are still in quarantine and they will soon be in display.
