After a journey that took nearly seven hours on 16 November 2016 White Rhino Temba finally reached her new home, Dvur Kralove (CZ). She came from Erfurt (DE) where she spent 18 years of her life. She comes from a private ranch in South Africa where she was born back in 1997.

Temba gave birth three times before, with two healthy calf surviving: Amari, a male born in 2005, and Tuli, a female born in 2007. The father of both surviving calves is Lestzler/Kiwu. Unfortunately, after 2007 Temba and Kiwu did not produced any other calf, so it was planned in 2013 a “Bull Exchange” between Poznan (PL) and Erfurt (DE): the bull Dino was introduced to Temba and her companion, Numbi. However, neither this chance work.

Temba left her home and reached Dvur Kralove where she will be gradually introduced to two of the three resident rhinos: a female called Jessica and a male called Pamir. The resident pair did mate, but till now there are no pregnancy confirmed. It is hope for Temba to start mating again in the near future.
